Commit To The Work

We get too busy with life that we forget the most important things we are here for. Some of us know that there’s more to what we are currently doing now – working in an industry, studying, having kids, getting married, and many more. While these are not bad in themselves – as a matter of fact, everyone should have a responsibility – we must not forget the work of the Master. Some others are consciously or unconsciously ignorant of this important work. Here’s a call to action to seek the face of God and ask for direction.

Let’s see how Jesus went about the work.

John 9:4-5
[4]I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5]As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

The first word “work” that Jesus was talking about means to commit and the second is the work which means labor or deeds. Jesus was committed to the work the Father had given Him. He knew what His assignment was and He wouldn’t be distracted. This work was to reveal the Father to us, to reconcile the world back to Him, so that we can receive abundant life and be in fellowship with Him. He also knew that He didn’t have all day to do the work. We don’t have eternity to fulfill destiny. We must intentionally make impact early in life. We cannot be distracted. If we do every other thing and leave this, we are of all men most miserable.

This is the impact of letting our light shine throughout the world. As long as we are in the world, we are the light of the world too! Some people are already getting complacent with the thought that the world is ending soon, therefore it is normal for the devil to invade our lives with evil. Well, the world has not ended yet, so we cannot fold our hands and let the enemy have a field day. Therefore, we must shine the light of God in our homes, communities, and workplace. The sun, moon, stars, have no choice but to shine. We, as the light must have no other choice but to shine the light of the gospel, both in words and deeds. Whatever we do, we must never settle for mediocrity. We must be committed to this work. People should see the wisdom of God in us and want to serve the God we serve. They should see how excellently we perform at our jobs. They should hear us actively preach the gospel. Let this be our testimony:

Zechariah 8:23 In those days ten men from ten different nations will clutch at the coat sleeves of one Jew and say, ‘Please be my friend, for I know that God is with you.’”
